Legacy Locker - Features

Security and Safety

Security is vital, and that’s why most of the time only you know how to access your accounts. In fact, we encrypt every piece of information you store in your Legacy Locker and even we can't view your data.

We started out with bank-level security software, similar to the steps, software and verification processes used by financial institutions like Wells Fargo, ING and Bank of America. Our opinion was that this level of security was not sufficient, so we added 256-bit encryption based on multiple 512-bit hash keys on all information being passed through 256-bit encrypted secure socket layers (SSL), which is encrypted over a thousand times before being stored in our maximum security databases in its encrypted format.

In addition to the technology we're using, our processes for securely delivering information upon a user's passing require human intervention. Verifiers are contacted via email to confirm a death, and we require the receipt of a physical, printed death certificate prior to releasing any sensitive information. Legacy Locker takes security and privacy extremely seriously, and as a result we've built a system that uses the latest in technology combined with intelligent human oversight.
